I have it, too. The first release was a limited edition and the number of yours should be stamped inside the cover of the booklet. I am not sure of the overall number in the first edition (it will only say like 489 or 1130, without an 'of 2000' or however many it was), which was in the early 80's, so yours would be from it.

I have heard (but not seen if its true) that this was rereleased later in a second limited edition, but I don't know if thats true, maybe someone else can tell you.

Most of the 45's B-sides, have since been rereleased elsewhere as part of various collections, many of which are bootlegs, some of which are not. It is not on CD, not any legitimate CD anyway, though there may (probably is) a bootleg of the collection, or at least the B-Sides (in fact I think I recall hearing of a bootleg called 'The B-Sides'...

These days this is pretty rare. My UK price guide lists it at 80 UK pounds. It is not available on CD as far as I know. I burned copies of mine to CD from my turntable and they sound great.

Did your catalog mention the number released? If mine wasn't buried away in safe storage I would dig it out and try to see if it said, but I dont think it did.

I remember buying mine off the shelf for about $40 US dollars, but I wouldn't sell it for any price, of course. In fact, once I got it, I proceeded to begin collecting all the picture sleeved 45s and believe I have most.

Sorry I had the price guide value wrong on the Single file. The Price is not 80 UK pounds, as previously stated. The Value according to Record Collector Rare Record Price Guide 2004 is 150 UK pounds. The price guide doesn't list the number made. I have number 0549. Given the '0' as a place holder I would imagine we're looking at probably 2500, but this is a guess.

The most important piece of equipment you'll need to get your vinyl 45s onto cd is an audio interface that translates the analog signal from your stereo into digital form on your computer. In the past year or two there have been a pile of the interfaces released both for USB and Firewire. Some of the companies that make these audio interfaces include M-Audio and Edirol. Then you'll need software to record the 45s on your computer, possibly something to clean up the pops and clicks you get from vinyl, and finally something to burn those recordings onto a cd. I think Toast by Roxio can do all of that.
I'm sorry I can't help with more specifics, but my set up is quite expensive since I also use it more creating my own music. I run the audio from my turntable (with built-in amplifier) into a MOTU 828 audio interface and record the results using Peak Pro 5. I use SoundSoap Pro to clean up the recordings. I use Roxio Toast or Jam to burn the cds, but these days the recordings just go straight onto my iPod.
        Hope that helps.

I have a stand alone CD-R Recorder, which works like a tpe deck. While there are some who prefer to digitally clean up the records, I take a more purist approach and record directly from my turntable (Michell Gyrodec, SME 309 arm, and Koestsu Rosewood Sig. cartridge). I think its more important to have good analog playback than to digitally edit anything.

        Cheers,

        Gregory
